Dulcimer Construction

Craft Enrichment is currently in maintenance.

Students will learn basic techniques used in dulcimer construction. This class will consist mainly of assembly processes, such as gluing internal bracing, setting frets, and assembling the body. Students will build from a kit that has been created by the instructor. Demonstrations will explain the use of jigs, wood selection, construction techniques, book matching, side bending, and other topics of Luthiery. Students will also learn basic finishing techniques and how to care for their new instrument.
