Beginning Copper

Participants in this beginning copper working class will learn the basic techniques needed to produce small to medium size copper sculptural work. Examples of these include: wind chimes, mobiles, bird feeders, garden stakes, and plant trellises. The class will focus on using locally available tools and supplies to produce the student work. Techniques covered will include: soft soldering, coloring and surface finishes, forming, and working with various copper materials such as pipe, wire and sheet. The goal of the class is that each student will produce three or four finished pieces.

Dr. Jeff Church has been involved in the making and teaching of various crafts since 1988.  His works include: pieces of copper, iron, gold, wood, lead and leather.  He has sold works in art galleries but prefers to sell custom work directly to clients.
